Welcome to fifth grade! I am so excited to begin another awesome year at Blackland Prairie. Fifth grade is a year of learning many exciting new things, and learning in my classroom will be challenging, rewarding and fun. It is also a year to strengthen our leadership skills.
A little about me:
My name is Michelle O'Hara, and this is my 26th year of teaching, my 14th year in Round Rock ISD and my 13th year at Blackland Prairie. I started my teaching career teaching middle school, but soon realized that I wanted to teach younger children. I spent several years teaching third and fourth grade, but fifth grade is by far my favorite. Fifth graders rock! The fifth grade curriculum is packed with all sorts of new challenging and interesting concepts. I will work with the students in my class to help them set personal and academic goals and achieve them. Students of every ability level will experience success in my classroom. I am a native Texas, born and raised in Dallas. I earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Science in education from Texas A&M. I love teaching! To me, there is no better career. I love the challenges and rewards that come with it. I have three children of my own who keep me busy when I am not teaching. Holly, my oldest, graduated from Southwestern University two years ago. My daughter Hannah graduated from Cedar Ridge in May and will be attending Texas A&M in the fall. My son, Townsend, will be in 8th grade at Ridgeview. I enjoy running, playing tennis and walking my dogs. I look forward to a wonderful 2018-2019 school year!
